Immigration and Ethnic History Society
The Immigration and Ethnic History Society was founded in 1965 as the Immigration History Group. It was renamed the Immigration History Society in 1972, and was subsequently chartered as a non-profit organization in Minnesota. In 1998, the Society, which had traditionally dealt with matters of ethnicity as well as immigration, changed its name to the Immigration and Ethnic History Society. [Read more. . .]
 

Enroll or Renew Your Membership
Membership in the IEHS includes a subscription to the quarterly Journal of American Ethnic History as well as to the IEHS Newsletter. There is an annual meeting and dinner in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians. We organize and sponsor sessions on immigration and ethnic subjects at various academic conferences. We also sponsor awards for outstanding books and articles and an award to encourage promising dissertation research.   • The Organization of American Historians (OAH) and the National Council on Public History are currently accepting proposals for the 2013 OAH Annual Meeting, to be held in San Francisco, CA, Thursday April 11 to Sunday April 14, 2013. Please keep in mind that if your panel is accepted, every person on the panel has to register for the conference Graduate students are eligible to apply for financial support to attend the annual meeting.
